Entries and bollards: controlling movement at the boundary
Every opening in the fence line is a controlled point and needs its own selection. A sliding gate requires no swing space and copes better with heavy traffic; a swing gate can be cheaper at narrow entries. A pedestrian door is set away from vehicle routes, or built into the gate leaf where space is tight.
The category covers sliding and swing gates, doors and gate-leaf doors, road blocking bollards, tube and profile parking bollards, returning and folding bollards, flexible PVC bollards, decorative cast-iron bollards, chain-linked posts and pavement posts.
Selection starts from the largest vehicle and how often the point is opened. Fixed bollards suit permanently closed entries, removable and folding ones suit occasional deliveries, and flexible or returning bollards go where vehicle damage has to be avoided. Finish and colour are best matched to the fence line.
